Anna portraits | Conway 2013

I am so excited to share photos from a special shoot with you guys. I’ve had these photos edited for a while, but life seems to get so busy and stressful, that I had to remind myself that it’s actually calming to write a blog post.

Without further ado, let me introduce Anna. Anna and I have known each other for a while, but this is where photography often comes in as an ice-breaker for me, like during her recent wintry session in Conway, Ark.

Anna went to Hendrix, and so did I, but I never had the courage to say hi. We both giggled and joked over being awkward as we sipped coffee during a break from the shoot and I had to laugh. Anna is an artist, the painting kind, and her personality is fierce, strong, feminine, caring, and ultimately beautiful. This girl is so gorgeous inside and out – and I’m glad we got to work together.

Her own eye for fashion and color combinations are what pushed me to ask her to model for me, and I am honestly so glad I did. Her eyes go on forever, the way artist’s eyes tend to do. Also, it turns out that her laugh is hard to catch, but it was rewarding when we both were silly loopy toward the end from the January’s freezing cold wind.

The best part about delving into portraiture is making life-long friends, which, so far, seems to be the path I’ve taken. Check below for a few of my favorite shots from Anna’s naturally-lit shoot.

Addison 6-month portraits | Little Rock 2013

With each new day comes new opportunities. The day I got to meet with Jessica and Seth and their daughter Addison, for portraits I was beyond excited, and absolutely sure that the possibilities were endless. It turns out they were.

Photographing babies and toddlers can be a challenge, but Ms. Addison was up to the task. She didn’t cry once, and continually kept reaching for my camera lens. I think everytime I pushed down on the shutter release and the click sounded, her curiosity would fire up.

I couldn’t get over her big, blue eyes. They are deep enough to get lost in. I have not met a sweeter more adorable family. I went to middle school and high school with Jessica, and I can’t help but see family resemblence (although Seth can’t deny her either!)

Jessica and Seth are both wonderful parents to have such pateince with letting me into their home and also letting me share a moment with them. I hope that these pictures will be something to cherish. At this stage, the months swing by faster than an a summer rain, and hopefully the images we captured will perserve those sweet baby blues.

Check out a few of my favorite shots below.

Kathleen portraits | Argenta, 2013

First off, I am happy to say that as I work on the new site I will be building in blog posts as well. Some of these will go pretty far back, but I decided I would work anachronistically.

Today, we’re going to remember a lovely summer evening in which Kathleen and I went exploring. In North Little Rock’s Argenta neighborhood, she and I headed out for a fun shoot.

I remember asking Kathleen if she would model for me and she was a little nervous. It turns out that the nerves weren’t necessary – because she was a natural. We walked down Main Street to find some sweet spots in front of a some familiar local businesses, and as patrons waved from a restaurant, I got a perfect candid smile.

We wandered around past the cute B & B that looks like a castle, around a fountain, and ended up at the foot of the junction bridge.

I can honestly say I haven’t met anyone who is beautiful on the inside as she is out. Kathleen and I were in the same choir at Hendrix, but we didn’t really become close until becca jane photography came about.

I am so glad that the lens has given me a way to make lifelong friendships and share in special moment’s in people’s lives. Don’t worry, this isn’t the last you will see of this lovely lady – who know what the future may bring?
